Not too sure why but I woke up after 3 hours sleep and at 3:30 am made coffee setup a strat and am now cutting a nut for a 5 string bass. This may be bad as I have a full day ahead of me. Its nice to work though as it is so quiet.
Anyone else ever do this?

I do it every day. I can get more done between 5 and 7 than the rest of the day.

So I just turned 38 a few weeks ago and I find I am going to sleep earlier and waking up earlier. Its cool but my 35 year old wife has yet to get with the program

Evan, I hear you. I'm usually in bed between 9 and 10 and she turns in about 12 or 1. I'm up at 4:51 (it's one snooze from 5 but I get up anyway) and she is up around 7.
Lucky for me that we both work from home or we would NEVER seen each other.

Same with me Paul, we both work at home so it is great but when I am up at 6 and she sleeps until 9:30 I feel she is being lazy

Wow! That's usually when I can head down to the workshop, after the kids have gone to bed. I then lose track of time and often don't get to bed until 1 or 2. I have to be up at 6:30 again to to wake my 8-year old, pack her lunch and send her to off school, then head for work myself. This all takes place before my wife the two youngest kids wake up. I wish I was better at stucturing my time, but I never seem to learn.

I'm an early riser, I set the alarm on purpose to get up ahead of the Mob...a great time of day to get little luthiery jobs done!!

I normally work on my build late into the evening, when the Mob goes to bed...

My life revolves around the Mob!!!

I've been on vacation for close to a month and I'm still waking up at 6-7 in the morning!

I never go to bed before midnight-1am... Even if I have to wake up at 04:30 the next day... I guess like Arnt, I'll never learn!

I drink to much coffee and pepsi to go to bed early, i wake up at 6h15am and go to bed at 1h30am, gee, i think i have something to learn too!

I like to work late, too. I learned a lot about hand tools to not wake up the kids. Less dust, too. Nothing is finer, in my limited view, than listening to a finely tuned plane sing through the wood. Hissss-snick.

I generally try to get up between 9:00-10:00 AM (brunch time). I am on a different sort of work schedule now since semi-retired. I work from home and do most of my drawings/renderings (design work that supports my WAS) and shop work (where I spend my money) in the evening, so I hit the rack somewhere around 1:00-2:00AM or after midnight for sure. I use to be an early riser when I was a Banker and my wife still is getting up around 5:00AM.

I also value my hearing, and don't want to be trussed up like someone going into a radioactive zone.

Yep... and a fret dress and new nut on my Les Paul and a new nut and saddle for a 1979 HD-28 and a new saddle for a 1950 D-28 were the result... THAT was a busy day!
