This was the third guitar that I started, but the 4th to get finished. I had some trouble with it. The new owner is someone I know that lives in So Cal. He came and picked it up last week. It had some problems, most notably a slightly concave top. I learned a lot on this build. The guitar sounded very good to me and the new owner. He said it is the best sounding guitar he has ever owned and has decided to sell off 2 others because he know he will not be playing them much now that he has this one. How cool is that?
I let it go pretty cheap, just covering the cost, but the buyer snuck in another $100 when he paid me. I just took the money and didn't count it. When I called him about it, he said that was intentional. What a nice guy.
It is OM size, sitka on bubinga, maple bindings, with spalted maple rosette.
I really like bubinga. It is very hard to sand, but it cuts and bends nice, finishes easy and is almost so hard that it is dent proof.

Tim McKnight helped me out a lot with this guitar. Thank you Tim!

Awesome! That shape looks a lot like my SJ. Oops, Olson's SJ.

It looks fantastic!

Thank you all for the kind words. This forum has got to be the nicest and most encouraging forum in the universe.

I thought someone might ask -
The fretboard, bridge, and headstock overlay are bubinga.
The neck is mahogany, maple and walnut.

Beautiful job Steve! I was going to ask about the f-board and bridge. The bubinga does look nice.
Very cool guitar!

Beautiful guitar Steve. I like all of it, but I especially like the rosette. It pulls the whole guitar together.

I like all of it Steve, from the logo, wood selection, binding, purfling....especially the rosette.

Well done, very well done!

The second rule of lutherie: Save the money for later repairs.
The first rule of lutherie: Build it so it'll never need repairs! That's the hard one.

Really nice early effort, Steve! I really like your use of wood and appointments on the body.

Oh, and the first rule of B-movie making: Running women always fall down. Really. If she doesn't fall, it's not a "B" movie (or TV show)!

Steve that's a very nice and tasteful guitar, I like the colour combinations that you have used they add up to an elegant and well executed instrument.

Very nice Steve! I love the purfling and rosette. Did you make the purfling yourself? It is a very tasteful and beautiful guitar. Congrats!

Very nice!

I like the purfling too, it looks a lot like one I was looking at in the LMI catalogue the other day...?

Steve, I like it a lot also! Most everything's been said, but let me add that your headstock joint looks very well-executed. (That is a joint I'm seeing, right? )
Before you chimed in on the FB and bridge, I was thinking cocobolo, but Bubinga certainly is a viable choice. It looks great, and should be plenty hard enough! Good job.

The purfling is from LMI.

Steve,
The joint on the neck is the scarf joint. Yes, I think bubinga is durable enough for a fretboard.
