Hey all: I have been reading the forum for a while now and I think it really is the best on the net. The atmosphere around here seems to be a lot more Welcoming than others.

I am somewhat new to building compared to most of you, but I bet you don't enjoy it anymore than I do I have been at it for about 5 years now and have made plenty of mistakes, and no doubt will make plenty more.

I look forward to being part of this great group if ya'll will have me.

That is such a good line, and states concisely why this is so rewarding.

Welcome DL! Be careful, this place is addictive. I find myself checking in at lease 10 or 12 times a day.

Thanks guys for the Welcome, and yes I agree this forum could become addictive.

A word or two about me. I have been a wood-worker for about as long as I have been able to do anything. Mostly Cabinetry, and reproductions of antique furnishings along with some do-dads.

I realized that a piece of furniture just sits there and don't really do much of anything. Once built and filled with all those little trinkets collected on ones journeys, the fun is for the most part is over.

Now I have been a guitar player for a while and always really enjoyed it, especially back in those wild 70's. Those were the days, and I survived without any brain damage or cell reduction.

I had been wanting to build a guitar for myself for a long time but never got a round to it for various reasons up until a few years ago. I finally did and it turned out terribly ugly and didn't hold up to the string tension. So I learned from this failure and built another with some guidance from another builder and it turned out fairly good and playable. I was Hooked by then so I just kept going.

Today I work out of a small 24x30 shop here in the Georgia mountains where I was born and raised. My main interests are Steel String Guitars and Resonator Guitars, and would like to try a mandolin. For the most part, my electrified days are over.

At this time I am re-doing my shop and adding a dust collection system.

Well guys, Thats about it.
