I am working on gluing a back on an archtop electric I am working
on and I came up with a nifty little device for tightening up all those
spool clamps around my mold.

It's a 1" piece of hardwood dowel with a 1/4" hole bored straight
through the center. The business end is slotted and relieved slightly
to grip those wing nuts. I CA'd in a bit of 1/4" drill rod into the
other end to chuck it up in my hand drill. I also dowsed the
business end with thin CA just for good measure.

She works great!! The drill is spinning in the second shot.

Cheers!!

Louis

Nice idea. Looks like you could set the torque control on your drill to set
clamping pressure too. I've always used my air gun - it's silly fast, but you
have to keep good aim and doesn't work well if the thread aren't clean.

Hahahah!!! I love innovation!!!!!!

The amount of time it takes to get those spool clamps on by hand...24 per guitar...by that time, the glue has dried!!!
