A fire today has caused the clear blue sky above to be dark. Ash is falling out of the sky and smoke fills the air so thick I can taste it. I am about 40 miles away from the fire and not in any danger. It is even smoky inside.

Three firefighters died today as fire overtook their engine. Another 2 are in serious condition from the same incident. The fire is moving fast and is obviously very dangerous. If you are so inclined, please pray for these brave men and women as the fight against very strong winds and very dry vegetation. This one could be very bad.

Read about it here.

My prayers are with you all, Steve. I lived up the road in Yucaipa as a kid, and I have had y'all in my prayers a lot what with the Millard/Sawtooth earlier. Fortunately, much of San G. was spared. My sister lives in Ojai; I can't imagine what Sespe looks like after the Day fire... . Yup, I'm gonna pray for y'all right now!

I am not in any danger. It is smokey here but there is no way the fire will get to my town. It is threatening a nice mountain community that I visit and camp near.
There is only 5% containment. This fire is very dangerous and could do a lot of damage. I hope and pray that no more firefighters get hurt or killed.
The area they are trying to fight this fire is very rugged and steep without much more than jeep trails for access. Hundreds of homes are threatened.

I havn't got any of the smoke in this one but I'm pretty sure we have a bug. We have had way too many fires this year even for SoCal.

Maybe they'll look into this closer now that people have died. It must of been bad considering these guys were veterans!

I know that smell too well.

It seems that when they planted all those Australian Eucalyptus trees in California, they were importing our bushfires as well as our trees.

We get our share of arsonists during bushfire season too, shooting is too good for some people.
