It has been a busy season at work but I am beginning to slow down some and have spent some time in the shop. I have 4 going right now and will share a few shots.

B&S - Ambrosia Maple J-35 style
Here is a shot showing the Bloodwood back strip

The next two shots ar of the WRC top with a Spalted Maple rossette with red/maple/black perf before final sanding and clean up

The Maple sides in the mold ready for blocks and kerf

I have bent the Bloodwood with maple/black side perf

The neck is Maple with a Bloodwood lam, the headplate and tail strip are both Spalted Maple, Fingerboard and Bridge are IRW and ready to go as well. I am getting the neck from john Watkins so when it comes in I am on to assembly and finish on this one.

Braces on all 4 guitars are cut and sanded sitting on the shelf

The next guitar is a J-35 Striped Sapele B&S with a Herringbone backstrip

The sides are bent and sitting in a mold

Bearclaw Sitka top with this Rossette of herringbone

Curley Maple bindings with Herringbone perf on the top

Braces ready to glue

I made my own neck, Mahog with ebony headplate, ebony fingerboard.

I am using Grover Statite 18:1 open backs on both of the above. Ambrosia - Gold - Sapele - Silver

I will post the next two on another thread so downloading for the dial ups won't take so long

Mike

I forgot one item,

All the woods are from sponsors RC Tonewoods and AC Woods, Thanks to both BobC and Ed. All the wood bindings are from BobC. Everything else on all the guitars are from OLF Sponsors. Bending forms & Molds from Blues Creek as well.

All have gone really well thanks to all of my OLF friends sharing information

Thanks to All,

Mike

Everything is looking super and it's great that you were able to utilize our
sponsors.
I'm pretty new here so forgive me, but the guy making your necks, is he also
a sponsor here?

Thanks folks!

Chris, yes CNC Guitar Parts you will see as an advertiser on the opening page of the OLF around the listed sponsors. These rotate, he has an OLF member special program that is hard to beat. This is my first time to go outside for necks, but the responses from other members has really been good on his work so I am giving them a try as well.

Hey Mike, great work, buddy!
Something about that top guitar looks familiar....

So, how did you like bending that Ambrosia maple?

Steve

Thanks Steve, I liked yours so well, I just had to build one similar!!!!

The Ambrosia maple bends and works about as good as anything I have ever handled. I love this stuff.

Thanks Mike,
I have looked at his site several times and was very impressed with his
necks. For build #2 I was considering the use of his neck. Just wondering, if
I'm building the Cumpiano method would I just give him the specs from the
book and those measurements would get me pretty close?

Thanks

Chirs, that should be all that he needs, when you hit "Custom" on the neck part of the site, it allows you to key in all the size information, select the wood, lam, etc. etc. I would go there and key in the width at the nut, what scale, etc. Good luck.
