Went to see my new bone doc Monday, just to check up on the bone disorder I've had since birth. Bones are weak, fragile, but I've gotten by OK: was an avid bike rider, did some sailing, basement finishing, 'til this guitar bug bit me. So, I've had this little crack in my left shin for about 30 years, doesn't change, bothersome at times. So Monday the new doc and me are looking at new x-rays and what do we see but a big ol' crack in my GOOD leg! Sheesh!

So he wants to stick titanium nails inside both my left shin bone and right thigh bone Friday. Not a real big deal, maybe 45 minutes each, but awwww maaaan, I was planning on at least a day in the shop this long weekend. I'll have one surgery Friday, the second next Tuesday, with an agonizing 5 days in between, plus 2 to 4 weeks recovery at home. I"m bummed, but I might get a higher level of activity out of it all in a month or so. Here's hoping. So I might be out of touch for a week if they don't have wi-fi. If they do, I"m liable to pass up Serge!

Catch ya all on the flip-flop!

Sorry, should have put this in OT.burbank39029.9694791667

Our prayers will be with you!!!!!   Good luck, you are going to do fine!!!

As an anesthesiologist, I recommend an epidural. It will be great for you,
especially for post-op pain relief.

   Good luck ,
Now in my humble opinion , I whould think a hot hide glue may be better. I don't like nails. Maybe even a good butterfly splice would be better.
   Fast recovery my friend

Pat,

Bummer, but probably a good thing in the long-run. Hope all goes well and it's not too painfull.

See if that Doc will make you some frets out of the Titanium off-cuts - that would be one up on stainless steel Or a titanium truss-rod.

Pat good luck on your surgery. I'm sure it will be for the best. I would take Dr. Andy's advice.

That'd be nice, but at which end would they put the adjusting nut?

Good luck, Pat. Heal fast!

Thank you all so much, my OLF friends, for your prayers and your kind and encouraging words. It feels good to know folks are rooting for me.

I'll do my best about sneaking out to the shop against doctor's orders. What defines best, I have yet to decide.

Walter, great to see you back in the 'hood!

The truss rod nut would undoubtedly be put on the end that's hardest to get to!

P.S. The hospital has wi-fi, so I'll be back soon!
