I bought Larry Presnall's Penn Ind Tempest cyclone, its arrived in perfect condition. Today I have started to assemble it. I have the
Variable Height Stand for Tempest Cyclone unpacked and put together. Problem is, it appears to be larger than the drum on the cyclone -- OR I have done something wrong
Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Just a question, as I don't have one of these.

Looking at the picture from your link, there frame is not square. Do you maybe have the long frame member at the front instead of the side? just trying to help.

From the picture, it appears the bottom canister is a metal trash can. Do you have yours sitting on a trash can?
Did Larry have this in the stand when he used it?

Well there goes my theory

Good luck with it. You can always just make it work buy doing what most guys do best, cut something here, add something there. If the frame is incorrect, but that would be very frustrating if you purchased the supposed right frame and it wasn't for some reason "right".

Ok guys here are twp pictures,
You can see I have to add a brace at an angle to make the drum rest in the frame.
I hope im just doing something wrong. Im flying with out instructions.

Lance, if I understand your problem correctly, it sounds like you need to cut a plywood brace, if you will. A square large enough to sit on the frame with a hole with angled sides to hold the drum.

Hmmmm. Looks like the wrong size frame to me.

I would just add a couple of pieces like you're using to hold it for the photo since it doesn't have anything to do with the operation of the unit. Or you could take an inch off each of the cross members, unless that will interfere with the rest of the unit.   Or you could bolt some extensions onto flange on all four sides so it will sit on the cross members. That sounds good to me, but I don't demand the highest level of perfection (yet) like you do.

Looks like it needs to be supported on the flange. If that's the case then the base needs to be a smaller square. Is it possible to shorten up the base pieces? Will the can fit underneath properly then? If not then you need a smaller can or longer vertical angle pieces.

Looks like they may have sent the wrong sized stand?

Any chance you can take the frame back and just make your own support frame, wall mounted like this or some other wall mount system made from plywood?

Okay, I'm back!!

The plywood where the cyclone sits is 24 1/4 by 23 1/2 (this is the piece with the hole cut in it)...also, the back piece that the top of the cyclone screws to is 24 wide by 36 high...

Hope this helps...this dust collector just won't go away!
