Here's a shot of a Trinity knot recently done for a customer. It is a combination of piercing and engraving, done from a solid piece of pearl.

Sam, I thought of you every step of the way, and wondered if you would like this?

What a beautiful inlay you have crafted there!!!

I really do think this is VERY beautiful...and can appreciate the hard work that went into this piece..many factors have to be considered at the same time, including the way the knot weaves in and out, being sure it overlaps at the right places...and the symmetry too.

I did originally design the knot on my guitar to have a circle too...but though it too complicated for a headstock design, although it really looks great on the fretboard.

Really like the powerful symbolism of the Trinity Knot, and the Alpha and Omega. This is going to be one beautiful guitar!

What woods are you using for the rest of the guitar?

That's really cool. Sometimes when I want to get back at my students for
being annoying, I'll start writing in Greek.

The woods used are the ones pictured a while back-
Top: Bearclaw Sitka (Colin insisted)
Back/sides: Brazilian rosewood (Don insisted)
Bindings: Curly Koa (customer insisted)

James--your students must really get on your nerves!

Hesh, I don't remember what size that fretwire is. It was the "standard" wire offered by Allied, and I bought a big roll of the stuff. Seems no different than what Martin uses. Does it look unusual in the picture?

Sergio--thanks amigo. You wouldn't believe how long that one inlay took. I'm quite slow at this whole process, but the moss really grows on me when I do an inlay like that one.

Thanks Joshua! I don't suppose a pound of pearl would look quite right on a Torres inspired classical, would it? But if one were to try, I'm sure you would make it look great.

I don't know Steve have you seen Torres FE08? Maybe not pearl but, if you want ornamented! A real 'tour de force'. Even down to silver for the frets and silver machine heads. I've been trying to get Joshua to build a copy for a long time.

Nice workmanship by the way Steve, but of course, that's a given.

I'm definitely doing an FE08 copy. In fact, I'm going to volunteer Steve to cut the pearl for me!

FE08 has MOP in the rosette, bridge wings and a MOP toe block overlay. And even a MOP engraved label.

Hey--if you're still reading--how does one get ahold of the pic of said Torres guitar? The FE08?
Who knows--could someone post a pic? That would be enlightening.
