Thought you guys might want to know:

S-4922, 20"x8"x50", $4.98. Min order is five I believe.I still wish they were a little deeper, say, 9" or 10", but we get what we get, and they are 275lb test.

The size may be determined by the USPS parcel max size requirements. I believe the max (girth + length) is 108 inches to most destinations.
I agree that a deeper box would be helpful in many cases. Sheet styrofoam can really help to protect box contents, and doesn't need too much space.

Directly from Uline? I don't see any sale info on the product page.

Jim, click the special offer button, click the super carton icon, select the 18-23 link and scroll down till you see item S-4922. The price shown there is $4.98 but I tried to order 5 and they came up in checkout at the regular price fo $6.60 so I didn't buy them. It's possible that they would have billed the sale price but I didn't feel like messing with it. I usually ship my guitars in the case box but sometimes I get several cases in the same box. These may be better than the boxes the cases come in anyway so I will probably check into it further.

I had 100 made here locally for me at $2.50 a pop.... of course I had to have
them made at 100 at a time...but I shouldn't need boxes for a few years :)

The 108" limit isn't the problem, it's the way they choose to get there. That being said, I buy them for my site because I can't find any other decent options.
I just ordered 5 and yes they do remain at the $6.60 price but I didn't care. I have had poor luck finding boxes in decent shape from local guitar stores so this will fix me up for a long time.

Good find Gerald - thanks!
Hesh, I just found the reason. The sale price only qualifies with a 100 piece minimum. More boxes than I'll ever need.
