Since Heritage was mentioned in the other thread, I've got a question or two for anyone who has it.

Who has Heritage personally?

Have you filed any claims and how well were they handled?

I called Joan a week before the Healdsburg show two years ago. She faxed me the forms and assured me that all was a go and I had a policy.
Shipping them home, one got crushed and I called her to make a claim. I had a check two days later. The next day I got a letter from them and was expecting it to be them telling me I was dropped. Well, to my suprise, it was the bill for my policy. Yes, they paid out a claim before I even paid for my policy.
I can't say enough good about them. You won't be sorry if you purchase a policy.

I have it and, fortunately, have not had to use it. The peace of mind, considering all the coverage, is priceless...for everything else there's MasterCard.

Call and talk to Joan Gallo at 1-800-289-8837 for details.Hank Mauel39051.6724537037

I have it and fortunately haven't had to use it. I'll echo John's comment about being easy to work with. The peace of mind alone is worth the cost.

Hesh, give them a call (ask for Joan) and she can give you a quick quote. The numbers differ depending upon what you have and what you are doing. Yes, the guitars are covered in your shop.
My policy has all of my guitars covered that are in my posession, and my shop. It also covers anything in transit (as long as I packed the box) and anything at shows.

Hesh the minimum premium is $500. For that you can get plenty of
coverage. I got plenty for all my shipments, off location instruments, and
coverage for my shop. Both for instruments at the house as well as all of my
tools and wood.

My policy started today

Thanks, guys. I don't have much to lose in the way of guitars or zoot yet, but I do have a lot in tools.

My premimum is only $250 a year - and covers everything (3 guitars, banjo, upright bass, mandolin) anywhere I go in the world. The policy covers the the depreciated value of the instrument, along with the repair cost, for any damage - for any reason (except thieft from unlocked vehicle).

Never had to file a claim, but have always heard good things about them everytime the subject comes up.

The peace of mind is well worth the price!

Tony, your policy is with Heritage and only $250 premium? Is this an instrument owner's policy or a luthier's policy that covers wood and tools as well?

Thanks!

I just got of the phone with Ellis, the Heritage VP. The 250 is an owner's policy, covers about 15K of guitars, I am looking into it for a client. Unfortunately its a bit more expensive to Cdn clients, but still reasonable. The 500 bucks US covers about 50K onsite, 25K off site (like at a show, or a consignment, and 7500 per shipment, unlimited number per year. But dont quote me on that ...

Sorry.    My $250 policy is as a musician to cover my instruments when traveling and playing away from home, etc.

Never really thought of coverage for tools and wood as a luthier. But then... I'm not really a luthier either. Most of my investment in the hobby would keep me at home - just figured all "that stuff" would be covered with homeowners (as a hobbyist / not as a business).

I have a policy with them for my repair shop. I also purchased the additional liability policy. I haven't had to submit any claims thus far.
