Are there any sponsors here selling plan templates--either acrylic or otherwise for standard models, maybe Martin dred/OM or the OLF SJ?
Figured I'd ask first before investing the the material/plans/work, ect if they were available.

John sells acrylic templates?

John, you really need to update your website so we know what you sell

Hoping he'll chime in soon.Rod True39065.6843402778

Half the fun of building for me is the design and making of jigs, templates and spaecialized tools. Love to see others' ideas. Do look at LMI, Blus creek etc but if you are like many of us you'll like bulding templates, jigs tools etc too.

One day I'll have the time to devote to those things--right now with 4 youngsters and there activities, I am glad guys like John are making some of the tools so I can devote my limited time to building guitars.

So......the cat's alowed out of the bag

I mentioned that I know someone else who is starting to make templates, and at my initial proding has made me both body templates and fret slot templates for using on the table saw. This person is none other than our own Paul Davis, Patriot Guitars.

I haven't used them yet, but thought that I would at least post a picture of the goods. Hoping to use the fret slot template very soon.

You can decided to contact him if you want to. I won't disclose the price, that's up to Paul.

Anyway.....

Body Templates, an Olson SJ with cutaway (as per Bruce Dickey Planes, come back soon Bruce) and a 1954 Martin D-28, and two custom fret slot templates, one with 25.4 and 24.9 scale and one with 25.6 and 27.5 scale.

All parts are cut on his CNC on 1/4" acrylic. I know that Paul has several more body shapes all ready to go and adding the fret slot scales was very simple.

You can see that he has some nice features on his templates (other's may have the same, these are the only templates I've ever seen though) with the engraved scale lengths, zero fret (which is compensated as requested) and 14th fret marker and the sound hole location on the body templates.
