I bound my fretboard with some brazilian rw heartwood. WOndering now if I should finish it with lacquer like the rest of the guitar of if you simply apply some fret board oil to the bindings and tape off at the top of the fretboard, i.e. adding finish to the sides of the bindings where they but to the neck??

Mask off the top apply lacquer to the side. The sides will have finish and the top won't.

Rich...I lacquer the sides and leave the top unfinished. Others may have different opinions.
