Some of you have e-mailed about a past posting I made regarding the math-a-thon fundraiser at my son's school. Well, he finally got the cd-rom this week and is working on it over the weekend.

This fundraiser supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and the way the kids earn money for the hospital is to do math problems. Rather than just asking for money, the kids need to put some effort into it.

My son did this last year and was totally excited about it. Unfortunately, not too many kids in the school signed up to participate, so we are trying to reach as many people as possible. Even a $5 donation adds up when multiplied by many. If you can help, we appreciate it!

Thanks for considering it.
Craig

Hi Lillian,
If you are interested in making a flat donation, you can write a check made out to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and mail it to my son, Jonathan Holden, at 162 Pocono Mtn. Lake Est., Bushkill, PA 18324. If you would rather pay per problem he completes, I'll be posting tomorrow night to let you know how much he accomplished.

He's 7 years old, and I'm asking that checks be sent to him since he has to bring them to school, and I figured that would give him a sense of accomplishment.

Thanks!
Craig

Bit of a flat response, I'm sorry to see.

Does the young bloke accept paypal? Does he get extra points for getting sponsorship from Australia? Cheques from Australia cost a lot to cash in the US so I guess that's ruled out.

I'm always happy to chip in for a worthy cause.

Thanks, Paul. Yes, unfortunately it was not the response we were hoping for, although a few people pm'd me. Jonathan did complete the problems in his grade level, and he enjoyed it so much that he wants to attempt the third grade level just for fun.

If you are comfortable doing so, you can paypal my account, and I will incorporate your amount in the check that I am writing. I think he would be amazed to have a donation from Australia! I am at info@cthluthiery.com.
He needs to have donations in within a week.

Thanks again Paul and Lillian. It really is for a good cause. You should take a look at their website if you get a chance www.stjude.org.

Take care,
Craig

Hey Paul, I got your PayPal. You are hysterical, and my son's eyes almost popped out of his head when he read where your donation came from. He is certain to make mention of your long distance donation. Thanks again!

And Don, much appreciated! You're a good guy!

I think it was about 200 problems. Some of the problems had multiple problems within them, but I think we were told that each level has 200 all together, and he completed his level.

7 years old, 200 problems! I'm impressed!

I'll get a check in the mail tonight.

Craig, tell Jonathan that the check goes out in tomorrows mail. We are having a bit of weather at the moment, so I can't swear that it will actually get into the postal system tomorrow, but I will try.

Hi everybody. It's me Jonathan. Thank you for the money you sent me for St. Judes. I think that the children will be very very very very happy. I am giving them $260. Next year I want to do it again and see if I can make in the thousands!

Jonathan,

You're very welcome. You worked hard on those problems, I'm sure. That
was a very good thing you did for St. Judes. Let us know about next year,
OK?
