We haven't had snow here for over a hundred years, I've been hoping, but no dice. They're saying that we're in the middle of the worst drought in 1000 years, dunno how they can say that when we didn't have any weather men back then.

I don't understand how you don't all go out gazing at that astounding beauty. Those pix of Bob's are awesome. I guess maybe you'd freeze if you did. Danger and beauty, reminds me of a girl I once knew...

Paul, what you aren't getting with those pictures is the the sound effects. You hear trees creaking, limbs breaking and occasionally a tree will explode. I'd much rather deal with a snow storm than an ice storm any day.

Be safe guys and stay warm.

You are right, though, Paul. It is absolutely beautiful. Our last big ice storm in Arkansas was 2000 and we were all electric and without power for three days. I put gas logs in the fireplace of my new home, so I'm ready for the next one. I had a wood burning fp in the old house, but I had to chip the ice off the wood and then watch as 80% of the heat went up the chimney.

I'm online for the first time in a few days- we lost power early Monday, and just got power back this evening. No water yet; the wellhouse froze while the juice was off! We're still hauling water from the river (maybe 150') to flush the toilets. Having heat again is nice, especially with the temps headed for single digitts for the third night this week....

Woohoo, the sun came out this afternoon. If it will stay out long enough I might be able to get the old truck outta the driveway. I need to restock food, we are supposed to get 5-10 inches of snow starting tomorrow night. Arghhh..........
