Since Arnt posted his fine version of the Tony's rosette cutter at the same time I was making mine I thought I would throw mine up here as well along with a little discovery I made. I bought the Ryobi laminate trimmer at home depot for $79 and was planing to make a new base for it to attach the rods only to fine out that it was already set up for rods. I did have to drill the holes out slightly since they where sized and threaded for metric sized rods and I couldn't find any. My rods are press fit and I may anchor then later if I have a problem with them. Using this ryobi trimmer made this project very easy and I completed it in just a couple hours.
Thanks to all those who have posted pictures of their rosette cutter in the past.

OK John,

Got the next purchase at HD set up. I'm out of town today, but tomorrow, they'll be down one Ryobi Laminate Trimmer. Thanks for the info, it'll save a lot of time in making this guy...

I bought some 5/16 CR rods and cut them to 7 inches (make as long as you like), then drilled out the threads with a some bit to give a tight fit. I may drill across thru the rods and thread them and anchor from the bottom with a countersunk screw sometime if they come loose. You'll have to cut the base to make room for the pin tung (you can see that in my pics. I used 8/32 threaded rod for the adjustment rod and a tele knob. I used UHMD (I think) plastic and drilled all the holes (make sure you size your drill for tapping the threads where needed), then I sliced the drilled piece to make the two pieces with identical holes. Then you can re-drill the holes that don't have threads to allow a slip fit.
It's a piece-o-cake really.
