I made my reservations today for ASIA - im staying at the DAYS INN in Westminster - 4 miles from the campus.
Anyone else staying there? Id like to get together with some OLFer and have dinner. I'll be there Friday and Saturday, leaving Sunday morning..

I'm there, too. Fat chance of me getting dinner between Wednesday and
Sunday, though.

There's a really unpretentious (i.e. cheap) place for Chesapeake Bay
seafood almost across the highway from the motel -- the Crab Deck, if I
remember correctly. You'll see Erlewine there for sure. In 2003, he
headed there everytime he wasn't teaching, possibly even for breakfast!

The schedule ought to be posted later today. There may be some changes
and additions between now and Symposium, but all the presenters are
confirmed. It looks like the best one yet, with Gurian, Grimes, Tom
Humphrey, and Ervin Somogyi joining the usual cast of characters. There
are some new classes: the "First Archtop" panel (with Manzer, Ribbecke,
Moll, and Grimes), the guitar evaluation, and Ervin's wood selection class.
It'll be fun! See you there.

What is the best airport for arrival near the ASIA symposium? The cheepest flight from the west coast seems to be to DC.

How do these hands on seminars work... is it open to all comers, or can you put your name in the hat early or something like that?

I am definitely interested in some of these...

I'll be at the The Best Western Westminster Catering & Conference Center
for the entire show. Maybe we can link up and have lunch or dinner!

Anybody staying in the dorms? My wife is going to come in on Friday and stay in Annapolis... I figured I would just commute those days, but the rest I am staying in the dorms.

If I show up which I'm thinking about, I'll be by myself looking for a dorm room partner. I'm still undecided right now.John How38475.7217476852

I was wondering if anyone was staying in the dorms too. I will be. I don't have any family with me so the dorms are perfect. Part of the experiance. The showers, etc, are common so you'll be walking down the hall to get ready in the morning. It's hard to beat the price. , though.

I am dorm guy too. I like the price and the "party" atmosphere, but I'll need some rest when I get back home. That's ok

See ya all there!

John -- Closest airport is Baltimore-Washington International (BWI). The
two DC airports are National (now Reagan, but it'll always be National --
code is DCA) which is in downtown DC, and Dulles (IAD) which is in Texas
or Mississippi or somewhere far, far away. Do your best NOT to fly to
either Dulles or Reagan. It's a longish drive through potentially nasty
traffic. BWI is about 40 minutes away, generally a pretty easy drive though
the Balto. beltway can get backed up.

Brock -- The hands-on workshops are pretty much first come- first
served. In the last several Symposia, there hasn't been a real problem.
Amy's inlay workshop is repeated, so anyone not getting into the first
session can get into the second.

See you all there!

I'll need that shuttle you offered as well Rick.
I still need to make my flight and guitar transport arrangements.

How is everyone else getting guitars there, and to what shipping address?

If Amy's class gets too full I'll give smaller inlay classes in my dorm room.
Just bring your own tools.

Craig Lavin
