Does anyone know where I can obtain plans for a Stella?
Thanks,

Bob,

Where do you live? I'm asking just on the off chance you're near enough to me to come look at the Stella in my shop.

Todd

Ah, well, no luck.

I'd offer to take measurements and make some drawings for you, but I'm afraid I'm overwhelmed as it is and just couldn't make the time to do that. Sorry!

Bummer!

I was hoping to mooch a tracing if you did one for Bob. I've been wanting to make a Stella based guitar for a while now. I have some ideas I want to try out. Unfortunately I just don't have one to trace.

If you do ever get time to make a tracing and/or some measurements, let me know because I could scan them in and make clean Autocad drawings from it that could be shared electronically. I know making tracings and taking measurements can take a while... Just wanted to throw that out there for anyone else that has taken measurements and tracings and wants to share them without messing with photocopying and mailing a bunch of individual plans out.

Are you gonna be at Ron's blast?

I really wish I could attend the shindig at Ron's, but I've got other (very good) plans that can't be changed.

Bummer! I was looking forward to seeing what you've been working on. Oh well, maybe next time.

Not much done... Been a busy year. I post most of what I do on my blog, though, if you're curious. I did my first bound fretboard which was pretty fun.

I'm kicking around the idea of doing a 14-fret 0-size with the bubinga that Bruce gave me at the last AR gathering, it'll be the Bruce Dickey Special model. He was also the one who had passed along that 14-fret 0-18 tracing to me.

You guys are making me feel guilty about this...

Maybe I can find time to do a simple body tracing with a few basic measurements, but I definitely can't take the time to draw proper plans. I'll try to get to it, but I can't promise it will be anytime very soon.

If anyone's reading this who lives near me (Ithaca, NY) or would be passing through my area, you'd be welcome to borrow it to make plans from. It's one that a friend gave me recently in exchange for use of my shop, and it's in need of a lot of repair. But it's in one piece, so it would serve to measure and trace.

No need to feel guilty. :) I wouldn't have time for at least the next month and a half to touch it anyway. I know it's a significant amount of time and effort to do a good job of taking measurements and tracings and all that.

Didn't mean to lay a guilt trip on you Todd. I was just expressing that I would sure like to get my hands on a tracing of an old Stella. Believe me, I am sure not in any kind of hurry for it. I can't get caught up with what all I have going on now.

I can't speak for everyone, but please don't worry about me.

Thanks for your understanding, guys.

Seriously, though, if anybody wants to borrow this guitar for a while to make plans from it, be my guest.

Maybe I'll manage to get a few pics of it posted, if the photo upload function is finally working again...
