I've been spending so much time fixing errors I haven't made time to post some progress pics of my guitar. I know how much I love all of your progress stuff so here goes.

Just about ready to put on the first coat of Z-Poxy. The usual errors upon close inspection but overall very happy so far.

Beautiful execution, Larry! That's going to look fabulous under finish. I also love the soundport and mitered purfs...nicely done...you should be very proud.

Just one question...how long does it take to get rid of the red boogers?

Larry, that's really nice.
It was a bold step using w/b/w purfling instead of the more forgiving b/w/b. It looks great against the Bloodwood.
And what a clever sound port!

Thanks a lot you guys. I gave that wood/purfling combo a lot of thought and it seems to be a success. The best decision was to use the bloodwood binding. I thought about ebony or maple and a few other choices but using the same wood as the sides is something I would do again.

Super clean work and excellent purfling execution. That sure is a nice combo of wood! Be proud!

Mabye this guitar will go down in history as "the Red Guitar" without the crazy real blood finish,
seriously beautiful guitar and Im sure its gonna pop when its done - cant wait to hear what bloodwood sounds like - I dont think I ever have.

Danny I was thinking there is nothing subtle about this build but somehow I think the bloodwood binding, matching the bloodwood sides, gives it a subtle look, using a spectacular and definitely unsubtle wood. There is more not so subtle stuff to come but altogether it feels like its working.

That guitar body is look very beautiful, with a very tasteful soundport, IMO!

    That is an awesome piece. Nice woods, great workmanship and an overall
warm understated appearance that I'm always attracted to in a guitar.

    I look forward to seeing more as you go ahead with the build.

Hey you guys thanks so much for the kind words but it's probably better we leave out the fine craftsmanship stuff - there's a pimple or two that the internet and the camera shots thankfully leave out - but very much appreciate the encouragement.

I just Z-Poxy'd the sides though and the bloodwood really comes alive under the epoxy. I'll try to get a up a pic or tomorrow if I get a cot on the top which is what I'm really waiting for.

Hey Larry,

Simple, elegant and not a lot to draw ones eye from the fine
workmanship......accept the bloodwood which is stunning. How are you
finding to work with? What I meant by subtle was in the design.

Larry, I've got a question for you now that you're z-poxying: does the epoxy draw any of the red out of the back/sides and on to the white purfling?
I once used some white purfling against padauk sides/back, and it took forever to stop the leaching of color onto the white line. So I guess the question would actually be two-fold:
1) is bloodwood as prone to "bleed" as padauk?
2) does z-poxy draw out the color like lacquer can?

And anyone can feel free to chime in on these. (I hope this is germane to this post.)

Also, Larry, that color really pops beautifully under that first coat.

Steve...I've used bloodwood bindings and a BW headstock and saw no bleed through to white purfs. I used ZP under KTM-9.
