Ah well, my turn...

It was for an album cover for a pal...I wrote a long sob story with my struggle with my painting etc, but edited it out due to people falling asleep..the painting below is the only painting I have done in the last four years.

I was shocked to find it on the web, as my scanner refuses to work, so...

I've got the real Album Sleeve in my hands here with my name in the credits...

Hello All,

I must admit I have a lot of favorites. But, I'm a sucker for the classics.
And, Leonardo Di Vinci has impressed me as to being so much more than just a painter!

You know somebody had to do it!

So, here she is!

Hesh, i have heard that some of the University students from my hometown in Rouyn-Noranda would have given this explanation:

The left side where the river or meandre arrives to her breast would symbolise life. The right side including the bridge would signify death, having to cross over to the other side.

Sam, i just love your immense talent!

Hesh, Seems I do remember something about what you are saying, from a TV show special on
Leonardo Di Vinci’s life I saw years ago.

Since you brought it up I’ve been studying the painting. Now, I want you to know that I’ve not done
any research on the web about this YET! However, I fully intend to after I’ve exhausted all options.

I LOVE A CHALLENGE!!!

OK, here’s what I see so far, but, I could be way off base. Let me know if I’m on the right track.

1. There appears to be two different types of landscapes, in relation to left and right.

2. The landscape on the right appears to be more in the foreground than the left.

3. The right side of Monas face seems a little out of proportion when compared to the left, or vise versa

Explanation; Normally in real life you would expect that any two things of equal size, in which
one of them is closer to you than the other, the one closest to you would appear to be larger.
However in the case of the human face, and given the sight angle of Mona’s face. I would
imagine the difference should minimal. But, in Mona’s case it’s not!
Also, it appears that the left side of Mona’s face is more of a frontal view,
where as her right side seems more of an angled view. That is, her head should be turned more
to the right in relation the right side of her face.

There is something else too. Now that I’ve looked closely at the painting,
I noticed two things I’ve never seen before. There is a bridge or aqueduct in the lower middle
part of the landscape on the right. And, She’s wearing a veil. Does any one else see the veil?

Wow, That was fun!

Robert

To me,half her face (the left) looks male, the other "fuller" side, the right, looks female.

Sam, that’s very interesting, I’d not thought of that one!

On another note, Did you call your friend?

Robert
