Are any of you aware of any of the internet string shops that sell custom gauge string sets for the DADGAD tuning or  - have you had to buy singles to make up a set?.

I’m new to this tuning and assume the string set would be similar to  .053/.042/.032/.022/.017/.013?

thanks

Doug, I haven't looked specifically for DADGAD strings. However, I have never seen the need as I play almost exclusively in alternate tunings and just use med-light gauge strings. I'll check around a bit though and if see some I'll let you know.

Seems like Kevin Ryan had his own custom sets he was marketing, not sure who made them.

Doug,

John Pearse strings do a New Medium: 0.013", 0.017", 0.024", 0.032", 0.042", 0.055" and Medium Light: 0.013", 0.018", 0.024", 0.032", 0.042",0.052".

I think the GHS Laurence Juber signature strings are similar. Kevin Ryan's were D'Addarios who frustratingly don't sell these commercially.

I use D'Addario EJ16's which I buy in bulk and then buy individual 0.017" and 0.013" strings. The trebles don't have to be changed as often and I can use the spare 0.016" and 0.012" on my bouzoukis and citterns.

Thanks for the replies.  Dave -  the D'Addario's with the string subs were just what I was looking for.  Just ordered a couple sets.  thanks
