Has anyone used Taz Blackwood for top?
Results?
Have you heard about or heard a guitar with this top?
It is said Taz is very similar to Koa-is the sound the same? Different?
Thanks

Very similar. Perhaps a bit more sparkle. I haven't used it as a top wood. Yet.

Bob,

I don't know if it's Tas but this is an all Blackwood guitar that is well loved by it's owner plus he has some recordings of it on his site.

Only for a reso, which I suppose doesn't really tell you what you want to know.

I have seen a few and some online and it makes for a great guitar. IMO better than an all Koa guitar.

I also came across this site and sent the link to Bob. The images and information are very good.

Not sure if I recall correctly, but I think Mike Baranik may have made one. I could be wrong though.

I'm planning on one eventually...using this wood:

Why? I'll simply slice it in half, into two 1/2" sections, and that will make a great back. Good and stiff.

Hi Bob,

How much do you want? This is obviously at the higher end of the figure spectrum but it is available. Send me an email or a PM if you like.
