     Thanks Kim! I watched a Youtube of Tommy showing his harmonic technique. They say he's been playing since 4 yrs old. I believe it! I can't believe we havn't heard more of that guy "ova heeya"!

(that's Australian for "over here")!

     I don't know if many people on the forum know but his Carmel, CA concert has been cancelled because he's been nominated for a Grammy! I don't know for what specifically but that's pretty cool!

Thanks for the heads up, Kim! He's my favorite and am always in awe of his performances. He's just another example of one of the many great and varied offerings to come from Australia.

A few years ago, John How and I saw him in concert and I was literally blown away by his skills! If you ever have an opportunity to see him, run as fast as you can to the venue...you will be rewarded from the experience. He plays over 300 shows annually. Check out the schedule on his website and see if he's coming to a town near you.

Hopefully, Tony Karol will chime in on this. He met him last year at the Toronto Fingerpickers Festival where Tommy evaluated one of his beautiful guitars. I can't say enough about the man!

You know Tommy and his brother Phil used to have a band called "The Emmanuel Brothers". They used to play at a pub just down the street from where I lived, maybe 500 yards away. They'd play there maybe once or twice a month, sometimes more.

I never saw them once. But I love his playing now.

But I was a kid of 18 and way more into the girls in the bar next door than into guitars and guitar players.

Looking back, I still don't know if I was stupid or smart.

Play it Safe! Girls AND Guitars is always smart!

Saw Tommy in Wichita Ks last week and will see him again in September at Winfield. Great guitar player but also the real deal, great stage presence. He can tell you stories about playing the Gand ol opry with Chet Atkins and doing studio work with Goerge Harrison just before Goerge passed away

I listen to the same CD, over and over and it's been like that for a couple of months now, he's just amazing and Hesh, that's the same impression i had about him while watching him play on you tube, he seems to go in a transe while playing some of his pieces.

Hesh...check out the Woodsongs link that was posted by Kim. You gotta see him actually play in the 1 hour video...and then you'll immediately get it.

I too am like Hesh, I've heard the name but until this post, I've never heard Tommy play, I downloaded the video......Wow, he is by far one of the best acoustic players I've ever heard and seen. What took me so long

Hesh, I too immediately went onto itunes to try and find some Tommy Emmanuel, but nothing came up. Than I just searched for "Endless Road" and still nothing from Tommy.    I want that album.

You might also consider the albums, "Only" and "Tommy Emmanuel CGP Live One". The latter is a double CD concert album and a must have. I have three of his CD's and will get his latest as well.

I was truly fascinated by the video clip of Tommy E. "teaching" Classical Gas. It is worth the 4 minutes or so of time to watch.mt

I was able to get the "Tommy Emmanuel CGP Live One" downloaded and let me tell you, that is one great album. I'll have to make it a life goal to try and figure out how to play Morning Aire track 11 on the first disk. Simple a beautiful song.

Guys, if you ever get the opportunity to see Tommy E Live, RUN, do not walk. I have seen him a few times, last was on tour with his brother Phil Emmanuel who is no slouch with an axe either. Yes, his guitars are Maton but Mr T could make anything with strings sound great I'm sure.

Serge, you are correct about the mileage marks but his guitars gain that mileage very quickly. I once seen him in an interview holding a particularly battle scared Maton Dred which had the top worn near right through. The interviewer ask it's age and Tommy announced that it was only 2 years old! This kind of wear does become understandable when you see him play stuff like Initiation, enjoy and look on Youtube if interested, quite a bit of the man has been posted there.
