I think Milton Keynes would be great, they've got some cool concrete cows!

John Hall...I seem to remember that you were considering an outing in PA. Is that still a plan? If so, when were you planning the event?

Are these parabolic cows?
I'm not sure - we'd better check with Howard

I think that getting this organized early is a great idea. A really nice weekend can be had by all regardless of where it ends up being held. I'd also agree that trying to put it in a more or less central location would be the way to go.

Great idea Hesh, me and Alain have given it some thought and came up with a place near to where i live , people could stay at the Lake Leamy Hilton that's right next to the lake, the Hilton has a casino BTW.

For golfers, i'm sure Alain knows a few places around here so i'll let him elaborate on this.

the best time to organise this would be mid july so we could see the fireworks at night, i don't think we'd have access to Leamy lake unless we'd pay the weekend's fee for the fireworks so i'll be on the look out for another park that is near by, let me know if Gatineau sounds good!

Guys, I think this would be a blast. I have two thoughts though. One is that we may want to consider having it in the Midwest, Mi, Ohio or Indiana, That is IF we are going to included folks from further west. Secondly, I can only speak for my self, but I am positive there is no way I will be able to attend ANYTHING before Healdsburg. I think July will end up being crunch time for most that are going to be attending. After Mid August would be better. Maybe even the first or second week of September. The weather can be a little cooler in the Midwest then too.

Very cool idea, Hesh! I like the location which should be accessible to East Coast folks and Midwesterners. Maybe the next year we do Denver so the West Coast folks can attend more easily. Ohio would be an easy drive for us Illini!

Great idea Hesh, and Cleveland would be a great location for the gathering. I was born and raised in Cleveland, and there are a ton of hotels as well as things to do in the area, especially if there are family members who aren't as excited to talk about a piece of wood for 10 hours.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is right next to the flats which has a bunch of places to eat/drink right on the water, and always has live music on the weekends. It is Clevelands version of the River-Walk.

I may try astral projection like last year.

Just give me a couple of weeks to cleanse myself spiritually, of course, I should probably do that anyway!

Well unfortunately the place in Fort Erie is up for sale.
Unless someone here wants to buy it. Then we could still have the bash there.
I'm watching this thread with interest. As we all know there will be no one place that will suit everyone. I'm looking forward to it.

I think Cleveland is an excellent idea. Easy access with a large airport, many reasonably priced hotels, and the Hard Rock. Looking forward to it!

How about having a more "official" gathering and doing it somwhere that we all wouldn't normally go. I'm Thinking somewhere like the Bahamas! Hey I bet someone as savy as Brock could get us a great deal on Hotel and airfare. It could be an "OLF" official holiday. Hotels often give good discounts to organized groups. If we do it in their "off season" the Hotel might give us a super super deal. Perhaps we could invite some celebrity members like Dan E. , Frank F, have a few mini-clinics and a lot of fun. (I once attended a guitar clinic in Cancun for an entire month and the cost of the Hotel was only $900 and change.)

I know that means some can't drive. But if the airfare is cheap enough (and the hotel) it might actually cost less to fly. Especially given the cost of gas these days. Or perhaps an OLF cruise. 3 days sounds right to me.

Hesh;  I don't know if I could take the 60's all over again.  I survived them once and don't want to press my luck!

Loved the movie and always wanted to see the town. I'd drive up from Arkansas for that.

Bob
Bob, the Healdsburg shindig is put on by LMI. It is a yearly event I think. The Gal event takes place in Seattle or Portland and is only every third year. So to answer your question, they are not the same event.

Sorry, don't know the dates.
