Hi Guys,

Anyone got an Idea of dimensions on a Gibson super 200 cutaway.
A client wants abalone purfling added ala Martin D-45 and I'm looking for some body specs to estimate the # of inches of shell I'll need,( and to give a fair quote!)

Thanks in advance,
Paul

I tried finding a pic of one, but cant .. its basically a venetian SJ200 right - the SJ itself has about a 34 inch side at most - my jumbo pattern at 16 5/8 only needs 33 inches per side. So you would need approx 68 per top and back each, plus another 68 per side top and back, plus the FB extension, the tail wedge and the heel - sounds like about 300 to me.

Is this on a finished factory guitar ??? Thats insane if it is. Probably could have had one built for less - not that I would want to do it (45 style that is ...)

Hey Tony,

I had guess-timated around 280" so I was close.
Thanks for the quick response.
Yes, It's a factory complete guitar, but he's going to have a burst done on it too!
I may actually try and do it without replacing the binding.(What's 5 years of my life anyway? )
