EC-2001; Jefferson Airplane 1969.... I could barely recognize "White Rabbit" but can't say whether it was their "problem" or mine or both.mt
There was a gig at Wembly Stadium I went to called "Champion of the World", where there were just a whole welter of Christian artists playing their stuff, and I saw Delirious live (seen 'em four times now). Really excellent. Massive worship session. Pretty mind blowing singing with 70,000 people.
Sam, one of the performers was Wayne Drain, pastor of our local church. He's been going to England for years. You may know Noel Richards who put that event on. He was here recently, my 14 year old was playing drums for their set in Fayetteville at a small church there.

Wayne and Noel were also in Berlin last summer with a similar event to the one at Wembley. Calling All Nations, Olympic Stadium.

Some of my personal favorites for live are Matt Redman, Phil Keaggy, Tim Hughes and Chris Tomlin. And I did see Allison Krause and Union Station, and another by Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, all good.

I saw Phil Keaggy in Tahlequah, OK, last fall. Maybe 150-180 people there in a small theater, and he was really relaxed and enjoying the performance. Absolutely great.

About 5 years ago, my son and I caught Neil Young at the Fox in StL. The crowd was really respectful and attentive for the most part, and Neil was playing really well...

It would be hard to choose between those 2 shows.

Chris

I like the small venues too. Used to be (maybe still there) a little place called Inn of the Beginning over the hill from where I lived. Saw Elvis Costello there, Ry Cooder, Leo Kottke, Ramblin' Jack Elliott there in the late 70s.

Iris DeMent in a tiny place outside of Davis CA 1992.

U2 87 or 88 at the Cow Palace so. of SF.

Must have been around 1970, when we went to the Hollywood Bowl, paid $2.50 for our seats in the back, but went up in front of the box seats, and saw, in this order, Santana, Youngbloods, and Janis, whatever her last name was. Second most mem. was Segovia. He was really old then, and he came hobbling back for 6 encores! Wow! Alan.
