See what you think about this binding/purfling combination. Its a honduras rosewood dread with what I consider poorman's smakewood and black, bloodwood, black purfling and on the top birdfoot and bloodwood purfling.

Here is the back. Its a 3 piece back.

The top is carpathian

rosette is also birdfoot and bloodwood, and a little black something or other

Thanks gentlemen. There is not much contrast between the binding and the body wood so it was for me a little risk taking.

Oh yes, nearly forgot to say--love the alliteration in your subject title.

Man......the alliteration went right over my head! I was focused on the birdfoot reference. I've not seen that before, and, again, I love it!! Not so much the fact that I could not go back and edit my post and correctly spell "too".    What's up with that, Lance?! However, I digress! John, it's awesome.

Thanks again guys.

Darin, that birdfoot came from Karin Rost, a dealer in Germany who has many interesting inlay patterns. He has a website and I have forgotten how to get there, but when I bought this stuff I got enough to last me for more than one guitar. It is such a pain working with euro's etc. But Karin got it to me pretty quickly and I can recommend his services.

Bro,
Glad you picked up on that alliteration. Funny and fortutious how the phonetics fit.

Nothing like a little friendly fraternal fencing, fellows.

John, I think that combination binding/purfling, and the rosette is very complementary to the spruce top!

I really like it!

Thanks guys

Old man's ontime observation of our overly vapid verbosity is very vunny.

I have never heard of Bogdanovich's book. With a name like that it must be a good book. It sounds European like it must be full of arcane knowledge. I cannot imagine making birdfoot by hand.

John,

I really like the boldness of it, especially the stark contrast to the top.
Very nice indeed.
