I have built each of the historic models from the Crane drawings.

Note the disclaimer on the Crane blueprints,

The plan is drawn by Makoto Tsuruta
It shouldn't be used for commercial purpose.
Business use is prohibited.

There is not a similar restriction on the Nostberg plans.

If you intend to build from a historic model, respect the use rights of the plans. In general if you are building and putting your guitars for sale via a website, that would be a commercial use. If you are building as a hobby and selling instruments to family and friends for not much more than the cost of the materials than that would be a non-commercial use.

What I did was use the blueprints for the general proportions and the design elements but did not follow the blueprints except to refer to them as an example of a historic model. In that way I respected the rights of the creator of the drawings and was free to sell the guitars I built as they were only loosely based on a the drawings.

I collect historic guitars so until I was able to find a LaCote and a Fabricatore, I used the ones I built based on the Crane plans as placeholders of those respective styles and schools of guitar.
