I got off pretty easy last time. There was so much good stuff to get that I found it impossible to choose. It was also impossible to buy it all. By they time decided on what I wanted, someone else bought it.

Any chance some of these vendors will discount when it gets close to the end? I've seen this before at the vintage guitar shows...they rather go home with some sales than NO SALES...

ASIA shows are a great time to buy things. Most of the vendors have discounted their prices for the show. I plan on spending some money!! Hopefully I will have enough left over to get home.

Guys...bring two pots of money for ASIA...

There are all the vendors there which will tempt you to spend everything you brought the first day...but then they alot will take plastic as well...

But...make sure you have some money for the silent auction and the Saturday night auction!!!

The silent auction is where you right down your bid on a sheet of paper taped to the item and the last bid when time is up wins the item. These are put out on tables for viewing.

Not all items on the tables are for the silent auction...the Saturday night auction is live and fun for all. Besides alot of items that are out on the tables for inspection, alot of the vendors will also ante up even more items at the last minute and if you didnt keep enough money you can miss some amazing items in the auction.

We are talking about things like a bag full of paua ablam strips (enough for 20 guitars) that went for about $150... it was late in the auction and people had spent all they brought so those still with cash got one time only deals. The deal I was able to snag was John Monteleone's wide belt sander (the same one that Cumpiano uses) that I got for $550 !!! I live an hour away so being able to transport it was key.

The other big difference between the vendors and the auction is that the proceeds of the auction goes to benefit ASIA! Dig deep and bring as much as you can afford (or get away with) and you will find it to be a great time, conversations with alot of great and famous luthiers, and some terrific deals on wood, tools and supplies.
