a customer brought his takamine in to have a pick up fitted, he also brought an old yamaha that needs a ton of work, but is absolutely beautiful - has one of the best tops i've seen. i let him know i cant do anything with the action without spending a full day on it at least (needs refret, neck set or bridge plane). he's not bothered about getting it done, but he can see how much i wish he would cos its so great.

so he brings in his taylor baby for a quick set up and pays me with the old yamaha. i nearly cried! people in the north of england have a reputation for being really friendly and cool - how very true

Sounds like a good barter all around. FWIW, set the neck, don't shave the bridge. You'll be much happier in the long run.

too late

i took the quick option because we're so busy in the workshop i just wanted to take it home really play it. I kind of have plans to use the top on a project on the future. One of those things that i cant explain why i like it so much - its not 'perfect', scrathches and dents etc, but i sort of prefer that in my own twisted way! most imortantly it sounds just great and with the 13's its even better.
