Everytime I try to send a payment to Tim Spittle, I hit a brick wall with Paypal.
I've got a credit card on file with them, but now it seems they're asking for another.
This makes me nervous enough not to go any further in the negotiations. The top of the page says that listing another card is "recommended" , but so far it's been insisted upon.

Anyone else have this problem? It's new to me.
Is this a new policy? How many credit cards do they want?

Steve, $60,000 in business with PayPal, and one single credit card on file. They also require a bank account link.

Call them and see if they will explain. There are actually people working for PayPal and they will talk to you.

Has the CC expired by any chance?

Search Google with "paypal phone numbers" (with quotes) and you'll find a toll-free number. It's not on their web site.

I've been trying to change my contact email at Ebay, but they won't let me do it unless I give them my credit card number. This seems unnessasary to me.

Steve, I recently had a similiar issue but it had to do with an expiry date on my credit card, once I adjusted that everything was OK again. Although I hear rumours of Pay Pal issues I have had no really bad experiences yet and they have never used my credit card to buy anything so having two up there to me makes no difference than having one.....Maybe I have a high risk threshold though . But I think that they just want all of their bases covered, not every community is as trust worthy as those in this field and we all get painted with the same brush...

Ding ding ding, we have a winner.
Pat Foster got it right. My credit card HAD expired.
What was confusing me was this: I had tried to correct that very info already, about 8 or 9 times.
Just not in the right place!
There was a secret (well, secret to me) hoop to jump through. Paypal contacted me, and gave me the cyber road map to update the pertinent info.

Now let me add this: I too have been very happy with PayPal. Nary a mishap, smooth as silk--knock on Lutz.
So I feel somewhat calmed down now, tho' a bit red-faced.

I bet that this would make good lyrics for a song.

When I whip out my credit card, I just don't think twice if I'm at a store I trust. Same way with PayPal. I do business there every day, so it's a no brainer for me.

I do hesitate to use my card online, with small firms who are not established. I have no problem with companies like Amazon.com or K and K Sound, LMI, StewMac, and dozens of other places.

I just trust 'em, and all the ballyhoo floating around five years ago or more about PayPal still floats, but right past me, because of the experience I've gained.

I'm happy to know that each and every transaction falls under the guidelines of the Federal Trade Commission. There are some folks who refuse to pay the three percent for charge transactions, and that's fine. But most business thrives on instant cash transfers to their account, and it really greases the wheels for online Ebay stuff. The shear numbers of transactions is astounding on Ebay, and it is mirrored on PayPal.

Side Note: Credit card companies up the credit line to worthy patrons all the time. When they do that to me I squawk. I just don't need a fifteen to twenty thousand credit limit on a credit card. I always knock it down to just over the cost of a nice vacation including air fare. That way, I don't get any huge surprises.

And, in case you didn't know it, most homeowner policies cover fraudulent use of a credit card.

In California we're only liable for the first $50 of fraudulent CC use. Bank account withdrawls are a different story. I opened a seperate bank account strictly for paypal. That way the house payment and grocery money are not at risk.

At least 8 years now with PayPal and never a problem, but better safe than sorry.

Paypal does my head in.

I cancelled my account last week due to sheer frustration.

Whenever I made a payment with Paypal, it would take EIGHT days to clear, therefore frustrating the seller and myself due to having to wait. LOL, I am used to getting deliveries within 48 hours, not TEN days!!

I investigated the problem to no avail, there is a method of making an instant payment, but the option just simply wasn't available on my account, so it's bye bye and hello to Visa....

Sam, Visa through PayPal is instant. I only use bank transfers into my account, never pay with my bank account. You are right in this day of instant payment, that method is archaic and aggravating.

Right now I'm awaiting two checks clearing an Atlanta bank for six thousand dollars total. Same thing, takes forever through normal banking channels to make sure you have your money.

I've never had a problem with using my Visa and an instant payment on PayPal. Much of it may stem from new accounts which are "yet to be verified."

I was the same way, "leary of PayPal's power" early on. Now they are a Proven Entity for financial dealings. It amazes me how trusting everyone is of Visa and PayPal. Really.
