With no intention to direct any disrespect whatsoever toward Mr William Cumpiano, but after years and years of Bill, through no fault of his own, attracting nearly all credit for authoring Guitar-making Tradition & Technology, it would seem that Jonathan D Natelson has finally been given the big flick altogether. See HERE. Note the authors names? What the heck is that about????

The lesson here of course is to make sure that you always get front billing or be prepared to have someone else have your cake and eat it whilst you suffer obscurity and are forgotten by nearly all.

Nearly all that is but the OLF membership For I am sure I carry majority support when I say, Onya Johnno, or thanks Mr Natelson, either way it is with greatest respect that I offer thanks to you sir for sharing the knowledge )

Cheers all

Kim

The one I just looked at on Amazon says Jonathan Solomon and William Cumpiano.

What's up with that?

Yeah I seen that to Todd but we both have the book and know to look for Natelson name. But my point is that Amazon has made a huge blunder here because any new buyer viewing their site would be easily mislead and poor Jonathan, after years of being mostly overlooked for his efforts will miss out on getting any acknowledgement once again even at the worlds largest book store.

Cheers
Cover art on Amazon
Yes Todd I did get that before I first posted, but my point is that the Title/Product description clearly places Jonathan Solomon and William Cumpiano as the authors and this IMO is bound to attract much more attention and acknowledgement than will the cover art which requires viewing from a separate link.

Cheers

This is clearly an error, unless Natelson has changed his name. An email to Amazon and Cumpiano should take care of it. In all fairness to Cumpiano, he is still an active luthier and supports and answers questions about his book. Natelson has left the profession. If you have a question or some errata about the book, you have to go to Cumpiano.

It is only natural that people will think of Cumpiano as the primary author since he is the only one currently actively involved with the project.

If they are going to change the promotional text, it would seem that they should get a current copy if it has changed.  If this is a new release with new information, maybe that's how the change occurred.

I flipped over to Cumpiano's site, and it hasn't changed there.  Who, by the way, is Jonathan Solomon?  Google doesn't know him.  Also, there is no mention of him on Cumpiano's site..  Any of you ever heard of him.  I did notice that they have his book paired with another book by Jonathan Kinkaid.  I bet it is an error at Amazon.

There is no doubt that this is an Amazon error. I just reckon it is an ironic one to make after all these years of Natelson being mostly overlooked for his input into this book.

Jonathan Solomon is an author of quite a few books, none of which are about lutherie (just click his name on the Amazon link) and he probably knows nothing about guitars or Mr C.

Cheers

That's what I think too.
