The digital BBQ thermometers are on sale for $7 this weekend at Canadian Tire (for those north of the border).
I would think this should be a good thermometer for a Fox Bender.

What are you looking at for response time, Alain? I've got a bender and a few other things that need to be kept at precise temperature, but if the thermometer's really slow then I'd probably be better off sticking with the candy thermos I use now.

Responce time issue???? I would think if you have the probe in place prior heating the wood then by the time the probe is at temp all lag time is moderated out.

Now if you place the probe in cold only when you think your close to the temp. Then there would be a lag responce but if the probe heats up from cold along with the blanket and wood. the all the lag readings should be moderated out.

I do not know, just purchased it yesterday, I have not tried it yet.
I would assume 1 deg resolution. Surely as quick as a candy thermometer.
For a bender it is not really critical if we are +- 5 deg off. I just need a value so I can repeat what works the next time.

The response time isn't as critical for the bending as for the other uses. The other things are vats of hot nasty which I don't want to leave anything in any longer than I need to, so a fast thermometer is a big advantage.
