Hey everybody,

Things I am looking for are a nice set of nut files, a nice purfling cutter, and a strobe tuner. Also, any brazilian for bindings, pieces 1/4" by 1" by 33 or so. Darker colors are best.

I have one quilted sapele back and side billet, but I have more invested in it than I think can compete with some of the other guys prices. The back set is 23" x 9" and the side billet is 5 1/2" x 37. Each should level out at 1 5/16. The back billet has a little gouge on the back side or else it would be 1 3/8. The side billet has 1/16 twist. With a woodslicer and a good resaw I think you could get 4 sets. 3 sets and an extra plate is a sure bet. I won't be able to saw these up this week, so I would rather sell someone the billets. I think I would need about $700 for them. The back set has some truly great moonscape figure throughout the entire thing and the sides are also 100% figured but a little less crisp.

if you need better pictures let me know,

Thanks for looking!

Hey everybody,

I dug through the pile and found some other things. It is an appointment set of maccassar ebony and curly maple. Included in this is:

1 tight fretboard blank 18 x 2 3/8 x just over 1/4
1 bridge blank 2 1/4 x 7 1/2 x 3/8+
1 bookmatched headplate 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 x 3/32
8 binding strips w/ black/curly maple/black .3 x .09 x 34
8 purfling strips black/curly maple/black .065 x 1/8 x 35

All the ebony is from the same board and is all quartered. The purfling strips need no heat to bend, even to go around a soundhole. The fiber on the outside keeps everything together. The binding is all glued with titebond 3, so that will stay together when bending with heat. All the fiber is .01 black and the maple on the sides is .03 and .04 on the purfs. I find that the purfling fits snugly in a 1/16 channel with a little scrape on each side with a razor blade. The maple has excellent tight figure and shows up well even on the .03 lines. Everything for $45. Here are some pics

here is the headstock plate wetted for color

I also will probably cut up the Sapele sets early this coming week. If anyone is interested in a set instead of the billets they would be $250 and include front and back headstock plates. There should be enough in the upper bout of the back sets for a bookmatched rosette blank too. I took a close up of the figure on the sides.

Thanks for looking!

Burton, if you haven't sold it, I'd like to buy the macassar ebony set.
