This Sitka is atop an African Blackwood body.

Steve, as I told you, I always say that with your brother and two or three others (decide if you're in the group ) you're one of my favourite builders on the forum. It's a superb looking, and undoubtedly sounding, guitar. You can always rely on a Kinnaird guitar to be a thing of beauty.

I do rather like that bearclaw, it reminds me of the return pattern of siesmic waves from deep surveys. In fact I can see several likely fault lines!

Man that bear had some serious claws and knew how to use them.   Great looking guitar bro. I see you did the trim wood with double abalone ring rosette. I sure do like that. I agree with the crowd, we need to see the rest of the instrument.

Let's see if I can answer a few q's:
I have a few more pix, but none to show. I.e., no finished pictures, other than that one shot.
Todd, the bending of A. Blackwood is problematic. It would rather be turned into bagpipe chanters, than bent into guitar sides. (Though, for the life of me, I can't figure why. ) Work it thin, I'd say like .075", though I don't remember just what these sides are.
Matt, this goes to a customer, and in fact, it was he who supplied the back and sides. That gives one pause, bending someone else's irreplaceable wood.
Charlie, the wood came from LMI, bought when Todd Taggart ran things. (I believe it was '98.)

Many thanks again, folks. I should add that A. Blackwood is a fantastic material, and this guitar is quite loud already, having been strung up for only a day. Oh! If only I could afford more....

Indeed, I too have a massive urge to stockpile tonewood. I have a shelf 5ft 8" high that has stickered tonewood sitting on it...I'll be happy if I can pile it up within an inch of the ceiling of my workshop.

However, I have a kid and a husband to feed, so....

that figure looks like the top is rippling after a string caught a breeze...

it never fails to amaze me how when man utilises nature at that level something special happens.
