Hey yall, Im new to the forum so lemme introduce myself, Im Brian from Corpus Christi, TX.  Ive been wanting to buy a new guitar for sometime now (year) and since I finally landed a job at the junk yard, I finally have the funds to buy a new guitar.

A local guitar store here has about 3 Paco's and I want one, thing is that the polish is very clouded, I remember reading somewhere that its due to his use of English polish or lacquer or something like that, is this true?  Any help would be great!

I am not familiar with Paco Marin guitars i don't know if they are french polished, varnished, Waterborne acrylic or nitrocellulose lacquer. I don't know if they have a gloss finish, matte finish or satin finish. In any of these cases the finish should not be cloudy.

Cloudy is typically a moisture entrapment issue caused by applying what ever finish too heavy per coat.

Now understand if the finish is a hand rubbed matte or satin finish it is a less translucent appearing finish because of the surface treatment. But the finish media is just as transparent but the surface is treated in a way to defuse light refraction typically by scoring the finish with steel wool to form microprism in the finish so it refracts light in multiple directions. This creates a low gloss appearance.

I just did some web research Paco Marin come in a variety of finish treatments some gloss, some satin. I suspect you ate looking at finishes that have a satin treatment.

ok, I dont think its a satin finish cause it has some spots where it clears up, but then I have 3 concusions, lol, ima try and take a picture of it today if I make it in time before they close

Wait. Find one which doesn't have problems. May have been finished on a Monday and Paco had a hangover. or, conversely, might have been finished on a Friday and Paco started celebrating the weekend a wee early? Or, it may have been a rainy day. Most of us don't spray on rainy days?????
