Hey Hesh man, I sure hope you reconsider leaving this place. I always get a kick out of your posts and you would be missed. Like some others have said,Take a short break if you want but be sure to return. This would surely be a very differant place without you Hesh.

Flood of PMs Hesh???
I tried to PM you Hesh because if you actually are not going to be participating any longer with this forum I would like to get your email. Your PM mailbox said it was full though. Just send me a PM ok!!! I'd rather you stick around, but let me know.
Thanks,
Christian

I guess I got here a little late, and am shocked.

Hesh, please don't leave, this isn't being said JUST because it's the done thing on forums....read every post on this thread and see that everyone GENUINELY treasures your participation on this forum.

It's forums like these where every member is valued because of the information and encouragement that is offered/recieved. Believe it or not, the encouragement you have offered me recently has been valued and noted.

I sincerely hope you can overcome the frustrations you have with this forum, as this community is a unique one; and has been there for me when I've needed advice!

My husband is awed by the information. He's see me in a dilemma, tapping furiously at the keyboard, then returning half an hour later saying, "problem solved!!". This sort of help WASN'T available ten years ago; I'd have to visit the National Library in London with a week's hard research to get the specialist information I get here within 20 minutes of posting an enquiry!!! Younger people can't understand this...but us pre-internet dudes can.

Please all of you, see the value of this forum!

By the way, the Lutz is beautiful!!!

All the sponsors sell wonderful tonewood. I am going to prepare myself a "Shane" order in the near future.

That is some fantastic wood!  I think my next top order will be from Shane for some Lutz.    Although I don't post a lot, I do read a ton and Hesh, your posts are always the highlight of my information gathering experience.  Please reconsider after taking a short break.  This place just wouldn't be the same without you.  New builders like me depend on people like you to help us through the tough spots.
Conflict is never healthy for us or any one for that matter .......
May I respectfully disagree?

Are you sick of Paris Hilton yet?

Here is a little girl who never got a spanking in her life.

Conflict is good. Iron sharpens iron.

.... and wounds heal

.... and we are stronger and know our place

That said, and now with the full revelations in other threads, it's a bit easier to understand the ballyhoo...

There is nothing wrong with the profit motive in business. A good businessman, is still in business...

.... the next time you need him and his products because of profit. I love this country. Long live the OLF.

Thank goodness, Hesh!!

Understand you totally.....

heh, I tried giving up forums a while back due to an issue....t'was impossible to "throw the modem outta that window" due to the friendships built up over time. There was a tangible sense of loss I could feel...then I realised than even online friendships can be just as valuable as the face-to-face pals, and decided to hang around... LOL, I don't regret making that decision.

Good on you, Hesh!

Quick story. I heard an interview with one of the long serving members of the Supreme Court of our country. Every case is discussed by the members of the Court. And this member said that in years and years of many times very difficult, controversial and important cases, voices were NEVER raised ever. People can and do disagree, and this is OK, but stick to the issues, observe a polite tone at all times, and don't take anything personally.

Bill, mensch is a Yiddish word meaning roughly a man of honor and character, a man who does the right thing even when there is no benefit for him. It is a sincere compliment appropriately applied to Hesh. If you look around this place you will find many such people. Its one of the many reasons that the OLF is such a special place.

As for you Hesh, thank you I am so glad you are staying. I tossed and turned most of the night wondering if you were going to stay or not.

When I was lucky enough to get some Lutz from Shane (High Mountain) last year at a discount price over the OLF. I was so impressed with the quality and customer service that I just had to order more. So here it is, mixed nicely are the Cedar and the Lutz tops with a beautiful blood back set from LMI and a Maylasian Ebony Back wood set from RC Tone Wood two other great sponsors. Unfortunately I didn't take any picture of these backs before stacking them.

Hesh,
I'm kind of surprized that you even considered leaving a community
that you're a valued and appreciated part of because of exchanged text,
whether on the forum or via PMs and emails.

Conflict is not a bad thing in any life since it is and always will be a part
of every life and bring growth. It's never a thing that any of us
enjoy....well...I shouldn't speak too soon because there are folks who
thrive on it and love to start it. I've always called it "cyber-arson" since
they love to start a fire and than run to hide in the bushes to watch it
burn someone else. I feel sorry for those people since they usually have
no life to speak of.

Believe me, i've taken more flack than any guitar builder that i know
online just because I believe strongly in supporting and encouraging
other builders. There is an element in the lutherie community who readily
and ruthlessly promote their own skills and guitars while, at the same
time, criticizing and belittling those of other builders. "I build the best."
or "That guy has no clue what he's talking about like I do." and similar
remarks crawl out of their mouths on a regular basis and with no tact or
consideration for others.

Their level of integrity and consideration is usually, if not always, equal
to their skill level. I've made it a goal of mine to get my hands on their
guitars to examine and to play in order to have a clear reference from
which to draw my opinions of them and my responses to their less than
accurate criticism of the work of other builders.

Each time that I've made my way to a guitar or guitars built by these
guys who feel free to boost the perception of their own at the cost of that
of other builders' guitars, i've found that they're laft wanting. Usually
sloppy and novice in quality compared to those they're criticizing, their
guitars confirm the sophomoric status of the self promoters. Do I ever
publicly call them on the lack of quality in their own work? No, but I do let
them know privately that I've seen their guitars and suggest that they
soften their approach a bit before we start to discuss some details of their
work in public. They have always backed off and even apologized at times
for their comments and then disappear from the discussions at hand.
When we criticize, we need to be ready to receive the same.

Some of them post here and at the other popular forums and more
people are getting it now so they ignore them and just pass their posts
over as a source of little more than hot air and smoke and mirrors.

Conflict will bring growth if nothing else and we all need to walk away
from it each time it comes knowing that we weren't the one who suffered
a lapse in integrity and spewed the kind of garbage that these guys do.
Whether or not the conflict or argument is resolved or resolved to our
benefit, we can be the one who maintained integrity and our level of
concern and consideration of others throughout it.

I've had one builder email a group of other builders...who let me know
that he did so....to criticize my "group hug" mentality as I freely
compliment the work of builders that I'm impressed by. I'd much rather
be known for my complimenting of the work of others than to be a part
of the "club" of builders who seem to gravitate to one another at the
shows and gatherings.

Just turn the other way and allow it all to help you grow. Next week
there will be a whole new set of conflicts to deal with. I have no idea what
happened here to make you think about leaving this community, but just
remember that the internet gives alot of weak folks more boldness and
muscle than they'll actually ever enjoy "in the real world". The keyboard is
like an electronic steroid....they don't realize that they really look foolish
to the rest of us when they're all blown up by its effects.

Let it roll off and keep going. You're doing a great job furthering the
craft that you love and are helping it to become and enjoyable part of the
lives of lots of other folks.

Take care,
Kevn Gallagher/Omega Guitars
