I havent had too much chance to post lately the new stuff I have been doing in the shop - I need a vacation - I created this body shape last year, and had made only one previously, an EI rw baritone. So here is the first using the shape for a std six string - well OK, its not exactly std - its a multiscale, 25.5 to 26.5, Florentine cutaway, with Laskin armrest and ribrest in curly balck walnut. The top is Adirondack, back and sides are Madagascar rw, the rosette designed by the client is thuya burl, ziricote, red ab dots, and blk/orange lines. The headplates are four piece bookmatched braz rw, and are also flitch matched front and back. The neck is honduran, ebony FB, gold/ebonoid Gotoh 510s. The binding is also mad rw, purfling is orange/blk/orange (yep, its an orange theme here) the end graft, and cutaway corners are braz. Bridge is braz too, 3/16 bone saddle. I think thats about it, and as Hesh likes to say - "Thanks for looking in". Enjoy the view ...

My gosh, there are some absolutely stunning guitars about lately!!!!

The wonderful rosette reminds me of Russel Rose's Avandel guitars

Tastefully and immaculately done!!

Dang. I know, not original but kinda says it all. Dang.

Can you give a tutorial on the rib and arm rests? Beautifully done. I love the "K" on the heel.

well, we always get the sound inquiries. Surprisingly, it sound somewhat like the cedar OM I posted int eh other thread, but with a more robust bottom. This is a 16 5/8 lower bout guitar, 20 1/4 long or so - its big, and has a sound to match. But like all of my guitars, the response is very even, nothing lacks compared to anything else, nothing overpowers, simply put it sparkles, and has great dynamic range. Its pretty loud as well when you hammer it. I have done some impromptue sound tests with my students in the living room and they all agree the guitar sound louder and better, more complex, with the sideport open (we covered it with a small cloth for the closed testing) It doenst matter if you are playing or listening, it simply sound bigger and fuller.

The internal bracing is what I like to call assymetrical symetrical .. yeah I know, not possible - but its my std symetrical pattern twisted some to support the multiscale bridge location. Same brace sizings and top flex that I use on all the full sized guitars I make as well ...

You know it's a great guitar when Williams finally shows up, and all he can say is "Dang"...

If that isn't the sound of applause, nothing is.

Uh .. from the Adirondacks, and Madagascar mostly ... some of the little bits came from Brazil .

Adirondack from a small local suplier here in Canada, Samex, www.tonewoods.ca - you need to see him on the right day, stock isnt huge in some stuff, like adi

Mad rw B&S, binding from Allied about 18 months ago - cant find stuff like this around mcuh anymore.

Braz .. well, the place I got it from aint got no more .. Cause I bought it ALL
