This is a mockup for #3, a koa 000. Body is closed up, just finished getting the plates to vibrate together ala Carruth, (with the expectation that the bridge will lower the top). Mad rose binding is next. Here I'm trying to see how the headstock and fb inlays are going to look together.

Great Rosette, I think I'll steal that for one I'm building now.

Don't be fazed by doing a cutaway on your first, I did on my first - worked out well.

I'm new here so I'd like to introduce myself first. My name is Kyle Finch and my company is Divebomb, Inc. I have been building and selling guitars for about a year and a half now and I can't imagine doing anything else. I see a lot of acoustic guitars in here and they're beautiful; I haven't ventured down that road yet. I currently have a Ibanez Destroyer Clone on the bench and I should have it finished some time next week. The neck will be set Gibson Style. I finished the Frankenstein (Van Halen Replica) body and neck (second pic) yesterday and as soon as I get a few more parts it will get shipped to the customer.

Well, I am in between builds at the moment, so what's on my bench is a barely used scroll saw that a pal gave me a few days ago...

LOOKING forward to using it!!!

Thanks! I have an order for a arched top Les Paul style guitar as of yesterday. Is there a thread here that shows the process for doing the arched top? I was just going to make a jig for my router that had an arch in it and do it that way carefully.

I have a 12 fret slot head OOO in the finishing room curing now, and an SJ on the bench.

Currently 3 EIRW, one I'm helping my daughter's boyfriend build and two for family.

The cut-away is being back radius 15' by an idea presented here at the OLF. Much appreciated.

And last the x-brace going on the cut-away.
See the mistake?
I forgot to cut the sound hole before bracing.

Yes and welcome Kyle.

You'll find that I'm quite the Van Halen Fan. I've built several Vh guitars and I'll show them and a few that aren't VH guitars.

All of these I built completely. I was making bodies only until I ordered a neck for a project I was doing for a customer and the guy took 8 weeks to make it and get it to me. During that time my customer was screaming and I just made a neck myself. Once I got the other neck I ended up putting it on one of my own guitars. I can completely make a neck in a day. I always let them sit for about 3 weeks to mature, but I can actually carve one and finish it in a day. I don't usually, but the one on the white/black VH guitar I did in 6.5 hours. I recently started using a French Curve Scraper to smooth the back of a neck and it really works great.

I just went out to the shop and took this pic. I shaped the back of the Destroyer neck yesterday and I'll do the tenon today so I can set it into the body.

Sorry for the multiple posts... I wanted to show off the back of the headstock too.

Does anyone here do any trading? I'd be interested in trading for a really beautiful and unique Acoustic if anyone is interested.

I wanted a more secure way to hold the neck while drilling tuner holes, so I came up with this jig.

Now the hs looks like this, no finish yet, but a light wash around the inlay. First Waverlys. Sure are nice.

Neck angle is set, neck is near its final shape. It's starting to look like it might be a guitar soon!

I've started work on the fanned 7's neck joint today. It's only rough cut - but it's good enough for a mockup

I am definately out of my league with all the fine crafstmanship posted
so far, but thought that my current  handywork might provide a
chuckle or two.

The Zebrawood is handsome, and sounded pretty good until my premixed Hide Glue Failed!!!!!

The Destroyer Clone is almost finished. I'll route the pickup cavs and that's where my work ends; the customer is doing the rest.

... and this morning this is what's on my bench. I've been aging this neck for a customer and I'll fret it today as well. I built the neck about 3 months ago and it's been on the shelf until just the other day.

Another neck on the bench today. This on is made from Bubinga. I have to finish the truss access at the heal that's why it's sitting in the channel like it is.
