So, I mentioned this in the "on your bench" thread.

this guitar is a pay it forward project as a thank you to all those folks who have given me free wood & stuff over the last year.

the recipient will be a young worship leader who needs a decent guitar.......

OK, NEARLY done.

still have to fit the under saddle piezo and strap button/jack socket.

Then fine tune the set-up, lower the nut a hair and the saddle about 2mm.

I'm REALLY pleased with this one!!

OK, summing up,

Body Walnut
top Sitka Spruce
Neck Mahogany
fretboard rosewood
binding & tail wedge mahogany
bridge rosewood
saddle & nut Bone
rosette leopardwood.

it's an Artec eT-4 it put the et-5 in a previous build and it's pretty good (brilliant considering how cheap!!)

it has a built in tuner which is fun too.

BTW, all the wood excepth the fretboard and top were free. the walnut & mahogany came freom the shopfitter's skip and the rosewood bridge used to be a coffee table!!

oops edit from, not freom

anyone notice the little blooper whenre the back joins the neck?

I was routing the binding channel and had cut out the sides from the neck pocket and the cutter dropped into the hole making a groove into the back.

I marked a balanced curve then cut it to 1/3 depthe of the back with a dremel in a mini router stand & glued in a patch. once the glue was dry I planed it flat with the back.

I really reckon that tas the skill increases the means of covering our mistakes increases too!!

One coffee table to one bridge?

Sounds like my kind of wood working....90% dust and cut offs due to goofs and 10% wood left in the final product

I'm sure you came up with a few bridges out of that coffee table.

Martin,

That looks good - they are getting better with each one. It's nice to be able to put them in the hands of people that will love, use and cherish them to death.

I think we need to start "Luthiers Scrapheap Challenge" - two builders, two dumpsters and 2 days to design, make and play an instrument - what larks

Nice guitar, Martin! I love the scavenger approach to wood collecting, & I'd say you did pretty well in the hunt.
And mercy, those are some tight bends in your cutaway. Impresive!

Steve
