I think Youtube or Google video would be a good option for such a thing, otherwise that's a lot of bandwidth to take on.

The Wood Whisperer has a good video and audio podcast for general woodworking stuff, though, like you say, most of it is furniture related. He has a good video tutorial on sharpening scrapers that I watched a couple days ago.

Todd, that is a great idea,
We could use the OLF Blog Space as a location that everyone could post to.

Sound good?

Excellent!!

This forum is a great place, guys.

I always say quality of information over quality of filming, so no-one should be put off providing that valuable information. You'll never know how much I have lurked in the archives section and absorbed valuable and accurate information.

Talk about learning techniques.  That would be great.  Watching a little clip of a process really brings a lot of confidence to a first attempt at a process, which increases the chance off success greatly.  I'm all for it, but don't know much about the process.

A-men, Sam!

Todd,

This sounds great, I for one would be very interested in watching these. Please let us know when you have posted them. The talent pool here is amazing to say the least.

Thanks

Peter

I've actually been wanting to do this, but more so for my friends than to
share techniques (don't know that I'm "there" yet). I just don't have my
own camera.

This would be a tremendous resource. The old picture worth a thousand words cliche means even more when the pictures are moving!

Great idea Todd!

I'm a woodworking dork and videos such as this would be invaluable.

What a terrific idea! All of the topics suggested so far are all things I've never seen in action before, and would be great to see before giving it a go for the first time.

If a picture is worth a thousand words then the worth of a video can be approximated by using some TV standards. In the US there are 30 frames (pictures) transmitted per second (we have only 25 per second in Oz). Therefore, the total amount of information is approximately 30 x 1000 words per second, or 30,000 words per second! If a short instructional video went for one minute then we can say that a total of 60 x 30,000 = 1,800,000 words per minute of information is conveyed! Just think how many posts that is! If you get your project into action Todd (and I really hope you do!) then you'll never catch Hesh!

It's amazing what forced inaction will cause your brain to think about isn't it?
