I've tried a new detail for the back of my head stocks and thought I'd share it with you guys.
A couple of these will be at Healdsburg.

Thanks for looking.

Very Cool! How about some details on how you did that.
Thanks,

That will look very elegant under finish. I like it a lot.

Very interesting, Jim. I'll have to wait for the finished product to form a solid opinion, but having seen your previous work I won't be surprised if it's a knockout.

Hi guys,
Anthony's right. I did this with a cnc. I'm slowly working it into my building. The neck will be a mix of cnc and hand work.
This wouldn't be impossible with out one however, some indexed fixturing and you'd be there.

This piece is inlayed into the back of the head stock and has a radius kicking it up near the bottom of it.
I moved from using a scarf joint to a one piece with this design thinking that between the headstock being sandwiched between this piece and the face plate along with the carbon fiber running up into the peghead it should be plenty strong.

Jim it certainly is a nice added elegant touch. Getting the curvature near the bottom must have been tricky even with a CNC.
