[QUOTE=Hesh1956]Guitar 13 is finished and I am very pleased with this OM.

This is the third OM that I have built from Michael Payne's excellent plans (available from the OLF). The first had scalloped braces per the plans and turned out very well. This guitar was evaluated by a number of OLFers at Fort Erie last summer. The second was my first plunge into parabolic bracing and sure enough I over braced it. Number 13 is a return to the OM shape for me and a remake if you will of my first parabolic braced OM.

Since that first parabolic braced OM I have built 2 L-OOs both with much lighter parabolic braces and thinner tops and they both turned out very well. My goal on this one was to build an OM with light parabolic bracing, thinner top, 4 pounds or less over all weight, and of course a great sounding guitar. This guitar came out just under 4 pounds.

In terms of tone when I first strung this guitar yesterday it sounded terrible..... But with in minutes of playing the bass came up, the brashness left, and the overall balance of the tone mellowed substantially. Now with approximately an hour of playing time the guitar sounds wonderful and I am very pleased to call it my finest guitar to date.

The Carpathian top sounds a lot like Adirondack to me and it was stiff enough for me to thickness to .095 - .100. I have always thought that koa was an excellent tonewood with a hint of darkness, very mellow, and made a light responsive guitar.
