Colin, my friend, that was a feast for the eyes and ears!!!
I really love the UK approach in building and finishing. That is a beautiful instrument!! You know how big a fan I am of your music, too. Because of dial up I don't hear many of the clips posted, but I always try to hear yours. Absolutely wonderful.

Spectacular, Colin. The wood combinations really do work together. I particularly like your choice of woods for binding/perfling. To me, this is another great example of the organic look that seems to be the dominant style across the pond. Wood in itself can be bling.

I really enjoyed your sound clip as well.

I have used cherry for wood carving for many years. I love the stuff.

Where can I buy decent cherry for necks? (or rather, where do you get yours?) I'm thinking it'll look stunning with the Oregon Myrtle I am going to use.

Excellent, excellent looking guitar! Very much the kind of instrument I'm planning to build when I get the chance to make myself something soon.

Colin...The all too infrequent posts of your completed guitars are always a treat for me...especially since we get to hear it as well as your fine playing.

This one is beautiful in every respect...inspite of the fact that it contains no mahogany!

It sounds great as well. One suggestion...perhaps you could record several of your finest and describe the woods, sizes, bracing, etc. I personally would love to hear more of these types of clips in order to better train my ear. I'm certain that others would benefit as well.

Beautiful instrument, Colin! And, (I have to add) You are a fine player as well.   The clip is really nice to hear. The pretty pictures mean a lot more when you know what the guitar sounds like, and this one sounds Great!

BTW... The purf/binding design is the nicest I've seen in a long time.

Thanks again everyone. Now on to the next instruments. FE19 copy, violin for my wife and the long term project of the Archlute, John, Steve, this one is where I will out-bling you all, the neck and fingerboard and bridge will have copious gold and ivory inlay, I've been buying up old ivory chess sets specially, and the three peg boxes will be carved in the shape of classical dolphins. Abalone, phaarhh!

Jammy, Sam the walnut and cherry I get from a guy in Southampton who cuts wood for a hobby, he saves tonewood quality stuff for a few of us. Then he cuts to our spec. I'll ask him if it's OK to give you his details.

Had a chance to listen to the audio clip again...Colin, that guitar has great focus and note seperation! I'm really enjoying the tone of this instrument. And as always, it's a delight to hear you play. Wish I could play half as well. Heck, I wish I could play a quarter as well.

Ok, thinking about it again, I wish I could play even a little.


Congrats on an extremely fine instrument, even if it's not mahogany.

Most people would love to have the "chops" that Colin has for playing, but to have them for building too - he is really over the top.

That's very nice, clean as a whistle inside and out and it sounds wonderful as well. I get the feeling though that you could make a sows ear sound wonderful. You know your way around the fretboard pretty well. If you don't mind, I'll be adding that to my ipod.

Nice, nice, nice, Colin! Seeing your instruments is always great fun, no matter what form they take, so be sure to let us see that violin and archlute(!), too.
