I had a lot of fun this morning with the french polish.Sanding it all off and starting over ETC.The back is well, okay And I`d like to start the sides.Do I need to wait a day, or just drink some more everclear and have at it.And how does a person do all the way around the sides without making a mess of it?

I've only done a couple of guitars in FP, but I found that I could do the back, then one side, top, then other side.
They don't need much (any, really) drying time.

'Drying time' probably depends on your FP mix, the alcohol you are using, and the room temperature, though.

This was working with the guitar resting on a piece of soft carpet and I didn't have problems with 'imprinting'.
However, I did have 'imprinting' problems once, when I left the guitar overnight resting on its side on carpet.
Best to hang it up.

Hopefully some of the FP 'gurus' can chime in here, so you get more expert advice than mine.

BTW, it's probably easier to just take the FP off with alcohol rather than sanding, when necessary.
Just spread some alcohol-soaked paper towels on the surface for a few minutes then wipe off the FP.

Thanks John.It seems to be real difficult to keep it from building up where the neck attaches to the body.Any ideas there.

Hi James,
I am no expert but when I did mine I did the back, one side, then the top,
and the other side.
With I think two sessions a day, morning and evening
It seemed to work for me.

Sorry- I can't help you there- I did the FP before the neck was attached to the body.

Because I finish the necks with Tru-Oil, I also FP before they are attached. You'll want the muneca to be fairly dry during application. If you tap it on a piece of copy paper, it should just barely leave a mark. The back will be dry to the touch within minutes, but it will not be cured -- two separate things. I agree with John that you shouldn't have to sand any off. Alcohol will remove the shellac.

After 10-12 min the shellac will be dry to the touch. Theoreticly you could start the next body session in a half our or less. How ever I like to give an hour.
