Very nice guitar, nice clean work. It's nice to see inexpensive woods crafted into a fine instrument.

I really enjoyed your playing too. The sound is great, you're clearly an accomplished guitar-maker and player.

Craig: after sanding to 320 grit, I fill all the pores with system 3 epoxy. On this guitar, everything except the top and fingerboard got epoxied. The epoxy not only fills the pores but also gives a nice 'wet' look to the wood.

Greg: it is a very simple recording setup, just two mics about two feet in front of the guitar a few feet apart. I fiddled with their placement until the sound in the headphones was as close as I could come to the natural sound of the unmiked guitar. This ended up being one mic pointed at about the middle of the fretboard, one pointed at the soundboard behind the bridge. As for the gear, it is pretty entry-level stuff, at least as far as stereo mics go. The mics are Rode NT5's, a matched stereo pair, and those are plugged straight into a Lexicon Omega to my laptop.

Thanks Ringo . So with the top you just sanded to 320 then sprayed with KTM-9? By the way that is the best AA top I have ever seen.

^ Yes Craig I just spray KTM-9 over the bare spruce.

I agree it is a very nice AA top; I believe the grading is mostly cosmetic and in fact I like some of the streaking that I guess sometimes downgrades a top. I went through about a hundred AA tops and only chose two... this was one of them. It really underscores the notion that that no matter how reputable and reliable the source, there is no substitute for getting your hands on the wood when choosing a board.

As to volume, you might find that once you intonate the saddle you could get more.
