I don't know if anyone remembers when I posted pic's of the Pink Ambrosia Maple sets and the Box elder rosette squares. Well Steve bought some of both and here are the results. Though not yet completed it's going to be a beauty thanks to Steve's fine craftmanship and originality. Notice how the top has a hint of pink lines and the boxwood rosette is just awesome.

You and me both, Roy. This project has been interrupted way too many times, and has sort of crawled along at a snail's pace. I appreciate the kind words, fellas--you'll help motivate me to finish!

This is a combination fun piece / commission. I was going to build it for myself, but a local guitar merchant saw the wood and had to have it. Told me I could do whatever I wanted. I've been kicking around inlay ideas w/ CraigL, and have just about decided to go simple. He thinks the wood does enough talking, and doesn't need a bunch of fanciful goobah all over it. What kind of spruce is that top? It's got so much pink coloration. Very thweet looking

Yes too much would be too much, but a little pink mussel on that thing in the right places would be nice, and not overdue it! It's so colorful everywhere else that it needs something for the heastock. Let me run a few more ideas for ya before you decide to scrap it!

I thought you were going to go with an Ambrosia beetle inlay? It looks great and I can't wait to see it finished. I've got some of the wood as well but it is going to sit until I can do it justice. You Bro's certainly have an eye for wood combinations and Craig always accentuates them even more.

Bro--the top wood is an unusual piece of Engelmann that came from British Columbia. Larry Stamm cut it from his back yard, I think. Purchased this at a GAL convention.

Jerry, the binding is going to be the same as the back inlay: Bloodwood. I hope that doesn't overpower things too much, but I'm committed now. I would consider the Pink Ivory idea if I had used it for the bindings. DRAT!

JohnH--why not give your wife some guitar lessons...perhaps for an anniversary present? Doesn't every woman long for that?
