I think this is ,so far, my best guitar and my worst guitar. Best fit and finish (still a looooong way to go)worst build process ever. The whole thing was a fight from step one. Mistake after tragic mistake had to be overcome and hidden away. I like to think I will never work with bubinga again, but I'm sure I will.

I've learned a LOT from this one. I've learned that my woodworking skills leave a lot to be desired. I was a woodworking virgin when I started #1. I was hoping to be able to build a saleable guitar by completion of #5. I'm begining to have my doubts... Maybe by #10. I learned that I can get a high gloss shine by using target PSL and hand buffing. At the same time I learned leveling the surfaces is very important.

Ronn, Very interesting cutaway! How does the side port work?
IS that Bubinga? Cedar or Mahogany back braces? I know exactly what you mean about the best and the worst! I've had that same experience, were the end product is the best you've done, but the process was hair pulling at best!

I know how you feel as well. I am just heading out to my shop to do the final setup on #6. It is the first of my guitars which has really turned out the way I wanted it to. But these first 6 have sure caused me a lot of grief. I look forward to the day when I won't be making so many mistakes. I am currently working on numbers #7-13 (yes that is to many guitars to have on the go for me, but that is another story) and am guessing by the time I finish them I will maybe be a bit closer.

I think your guitar looks great! Just keep working at it. The more experience you get the easier some of the task become.

I like your side sound port design.

Ok where is the pic?

Looks good! I know the feeling of the whole process being a constant battle. What do you think about PSL? Will you be using it again?
   I used USL on my last guitar. In most lighting conditions it looks OK, but in the right conditions it has a bluish cast. I won’t be using it again because of that.

Ronn, looking good! It's not the destination its the journey. I started at the same woodworking skill level as yourself and I know you have got me beat. That bubinga and I assume maple neck really do compliment each other.

This guitar sounds incredibly dark. Strong basses but not boomy. Just very dark and very loud. Should please the intended recipient. He is a headbanger that requested a lot of bass

The port Is really window dressing I believe. The guitar is so loud that any sound coming from the port is really just washed away. Makes it unique though.

The psl is ok but I wanna try ktm-9 on the next one. Looks like everyone is having good luck with it.

Yeah it's a maple neck Sorry about that... The back braces are redwood. The top is braced with sitka. The top is sitka and back and sides are bubinga. Flamed maple binding herringbone purfling on top and the ebony fingerboard is bound with ebony and/ maple purfling top and sides.

Looks like you really decided to challenge youself on this one (cutaway, bubinga, side port) but pulled it off well. Good job.

Good work Ronn I like the fall-away cut-away. I can sympathize with your struggle. Some guitars just fight you, some fall into place. Like kids, you just love em all and be thankful they arn't all difficult

You really did have some great saves on this guitar. You definitely have increased the knot im my stomach when it comes to bending Bubinga, though. Very cool that you pulled it off!
