Here is my 5th redwood topped Coco guitar. This is another set of LS redwood and a set of coco that I've had for a few years, came from LMII. The bindings are Flamed Koa. The Fretboard goes down tonight and then by Friday I should be fitting the neck to the body, then were off to Finish! This will conclude my forth guitar in the last six weeks.
Time to take a breather and get mentally read for HGF

I've got to se a set of Koa bindings for my current guitar. I was going to treat myself on the 10th build, but heck, I'm pullin' the trigger now.

Lance,

Nice work, You are really cranking now. 4 guitars finished in 6 weeks! Wow. Boy that coco looks nice, I still hate to work with it. If anybody asks me for a cocobolo guitar, I'm sending them to you.

Hey Lance, seeing the progress shots brings up a question about how you miter purflings at the butt. I can see that you install the end graft after the binding channel is cut. Do you then reset your router and cut off the graft, or do you chisel it out, and why. Answer in the form of a question, please. 25 words or less (just kidding.)

I cut the bindings channels first, then the end graft, then I install the end graft and purfs.
I then temporarily place my side purfs and bindings in place, mark the height where the end graft need to be cut (right at the bottom of the binding, then I take it all off, cut the end graft, then slice the miter joint in the purfs, then I come back and install the side purfs first by cutting the miter, dipping the end in accelerator, and using a chisel hold it all in place while I put a drop of CA on it. Now that the side purf is tacked down to the end graft purfs I proceed to cut my bindings to the proper length and then install them using the tape and ca method. MAN! What a run on sentence!

I'm sorry Mr. Kragenbrink, your answer was correct, but it was not in the form of a question. (Guess I used to watch Jeopardy too much.)

But seriously, thanks for your method. When I saw the shot with the end graft and end purflings in place waiting to be trimmed, it made me think about tearout from using a router to trim the end graft to length. I know some folks trim the end graft to length with a chisel, some with a router, and wondered which way you do it.
