I just split open a red oak log and lo and behold it was very curly. It is way too nice for firewood. I will post a pic of the log soon.

Man, that's nice!! I think I have the sister set to that from Bob!    I'm building with it right now and can't wait to finish it. I closed the box this week, but I may not show it after seeing this one.

Wow Steve, that looks amazing! How was the oak to work with? What other types of oak would be suitable for guitarmaking? Thanks, and keep up the great work! Mark

Way cool, you'll love it. I think oak is similar to walnut in terms of tone.
BTW-I made this guitar double side and would recommend that you do that if your side is as figured as mine. There were a few cracks and splits and holes that showed up after bending.

I got it from LMI. I was able to hand select it from a large stack. Here is a close up. I hope it shows the grain nicely for you.

Steve, that is beautiful, and I'm not usually a fan of light colored back and side sets.  You did a wonderful job of tying everything together to build a magnificent looking instrument, and look forward to hearing a clip, if you are able to accomplish that.
